The white belt is the first of 10 levels as a color belt in Taekwon-Do. This is the official beginning of your Taekwon-Do journey.
You should be training regularly at this level for 8 weeks minimum. You will also need to achieve 3-physical stripes and the homework stripe to test for Yellow Stripe (9th Kup).
The yellow stripe is the second level heading towards black belt. You will need a minimum of 12 weeks training regularly while achieving 3 physical stripes and the homework stripe in order to test for Yellow Belt (8th Kup)
In order to qualify for the Rank Testing, each candidate must be training for at least 12-weeks as well as have achieved the following stripes:
- Stripe #1 (Fundamentals & Kicking Drills)
- Stripe #2 (Patterns & Step Sparring)
- Stripe #3 (Sparring & Self-Defense)
- Stripe #4 (The homework Assignment)
Each candidate must be able to complete the following:
- 3 minutes of running / jogging around the Dojang
- 10 proper push ups (without knees on the floor)
- 10 proper sit ups (without any rest period)
- 10 proper squates (deep knee bends)
- 10 speed front snap kicks (each leg)*
* the kicking leg must touch the floor between kicks
Upon competing the physical test, the testing candidate will begin the technical evaluation. The Technical test is divided into the folloing categories:
- Fundamental Movements
- Kicking Drills
- Patterns
- Sparring
- Self-Defense
- Oral Test (knowledge)
Preparing for the exam / evaluation is not easy. For this reason we have a section called additional resources. In this section we have all the information needed to study as well as the rank testing sheet / the stipe testing sheet as well as the written assignment (homework assignment).
