The Green Stripe (7th Grade)

Congratulations on achieving your Green Stripe!


Not only are you really getting somewhere in Taekwon-Do, you are now graduating into the Intermediate levels.


Green Stripe is the first stage of being in the advanced class.  In order to proceed and get the most of your journey - remember that you are the lowest rank in the senior class - MEANING you need to try hard to not slow the pace of the class.

Test Criteria

Training Requirements

In order to test from Green Stripe to Green Belt, you will need to accomplish the following:


Children (6 to 11 Years Old)-

04- Months of training

40- Attended Classes


Teens & Adults (ages 12 & up)-

03- Months of training

40- Attended Classes

Additional Requirements

You will need to participate in the following events before grading for Green Belt (6th Grade):


01 - Competition

01 - Seminar


Once students achieve Green Belt, they will be required to Register with the Original Taekwon-Do Federation America (OTFA).  This is a $50 fee per year.

Test Composition

The Written Test

The written test is the first stage of testing.  It comprises of questions from your Taekwon-Do knowledge.  It is important to study your booklets / hand-outs as well as attend classes.

The Physical Test

Upon completion of your written test, each student must undergo a physical test.  Each Physical Test is comprised of Running, Jump Rope, Push-ups, Sit-ups, squats and speed kicks.

The Technical Test

After completing the Written Test and the Physical Test, students move on to go through the technical test.  This section is comprised of Fundamentals, Kicking Drills, Patterns, Sparring, Self-Defense and Breaking.

Green Stripe Physical Test

Cardio & Coordination

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


06 minutes of jogging

06 minutes of jump rope

Strength & Conditioning

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


25 proper Push-ups

25 proper Sit-ups

25 deep knee bends

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


15 Speed Front Snap Kicks (each leg)

15 Speed Turning Kicks (each leg)

15 Speed Side Piercing Kick (each leg)

- Walking Stance High Outer Forearm Side Block

- Walking Stance Middle Straight Fingertip Thrust

- Walking Stance High Back-Fist Side Strike

Sparring

- 2 Step Sparring #1

- Sparring Foot work Drill #4 - L-Shape Evade (moving to the left and to the right)

- Defensive Drill: Back Piercing Kick & Jumping Punches


- Free Sparring (Sparring Gear Required)

Self-Defense

- Forward Roll (from a Standing Position)

- Backward Roll (from a Standing Position)


- Release from a Bear Hug
