The Red Belt (2nd Grade)

WOW,  this is amazing. You have achieved your Red Belt!


As you get closer to your BIG GOAL (Black Belt), you need to make sure you are in the best possible shape and there is more to it...  This is a level where you will now start to learn about "giving back".


Junior students will look at you as a ROLE MODEL.  Your energy, knowledge and skill will either motivate them to work hard or will discourage them into quitting.  It is important to be a good influence!

Test Criteria

Training Requirements

In order to test from Red Belt to the Black Stripe, you will need to accomplish the following:


Children (6 to 11 Years Old)-

08- Months of training

65- Attended Classes


Teens & Adults (ages 12 & up)-

07- Months of training

65- Attended Classes


* All applicants must be at least 9 years old to obtain a Red Belt.

Additional Requirements

You will need to participate in the following events before grading for Black Stripe (1st Grade):


01 - Competition

01 - Seminar


Students are required to assist/volunteer in:

10-Beginner or Little Warrior Classes


Students are also required to maintain their membership with the Original Taekwon-Do Federation America (OTFA).  This is a $50 fee per year.

Test Composition

The Written Test

The written test is the first stage of testing.  It comprises of questions from your Taekwon-Do knowledge.  It is important to study your booklets / hand-outs as well as attend classes.

The Physical Test

Upon completion of your written test, each student must undergo a physical test.  Each Physical Test is comprised of Running, Jump Rope, Push-ups, Sit-ups, squats and speed kicks.

The Technical Test

After completing the Written Test and the Physical Test, students move on to go through the technical test.  This section is comprised of Fundamentals, Kicking Drills, Patterns, Sparring, Self-Defense and Breaking.

Cardio & Coordination

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


11 minutes of jogging

11 minutes of jump rope

04 minutes of sprinting

Strength & Conditioning

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


50 proper Push-ups

50 proper Sit-ups

50 deep knee bends

25 tuck jumps

Speed & Accuracy

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


30 Speed Front Snap Kicks (each leg)

30 Speed Turning Kicks (each leg)

30 Speed Side Piercing Kick (each leg)

30 Speed Reverse Hooking Kicks (each leg)
