The Yellow Belt (8th Grade)

Congratulations on achieving your Yellow Belt!


You have really begun to strengthen your Taekwon-Do foundation and are almost past the beginner stage.


As a Yellow Belt you have a new challenge.  You are now a completely different belt color and will be a role model to the White Belts & Yellow Stripes.  It is important to try your best and at the same time monitor your behavior.

Test Criteria

Training Requirements

In order to test from Yellow Belt to Green Stripe, you will need to accomplish the following:


Children (6 to 11 Years Old)-

03- Months of training

35- Attended Classes


Teens & Adults (ages 12 & up)-

02- Months of training

35- Attended Classes

Additional Requirements

You will need to participate in the following events before grading for Green Belt (6th Grade):

The Written Test

The written test is the first stage of testing.  It comprises of questions from your Taekwon-Do knowledge.  It is important to study your booklets / hand-outs as well as attend classes.

The Physical Test

Upon completion of your written test, each student must undergo a physical test.  Each Physical Test is comprised of Running, Jump Rope, Push-ups, Sit-ups, squats and speed kicks.

The Technical Test

After completing the Written Test and the Physical Test, students move on to go through the technical test.  This section is comprised of Fundamentals, Kicking Drills, Patterns, Sparring, Self-Defense and Breaking.

Yellow Belt Physical Test

Cardio & Coordination

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


05 minutes of jogging

05 minutes of jump rope

Strength & Conditioning

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


20 proper Push-ups

20 proper Sit-ups

20 deep knee bends

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


15 Speed Front Snap Kicks (each leg)

15 Speed Turning Kicks (each leg)

15 Speed Side Piercing Kick (each leg)

- Sparring Foot work Drill #3 - Forward Shifting & Backward Evading

- Sparring Hand Combination (Double Jab, Cross & Hook)

- Sparring Combination (Front Leg Reverse Hooking Kick, Jab, Cross & Turning Kick)

- Sparring Combination (Front Leg Reverse Hooking Kick, Jab, Cross & Downward Kick)

- Defensive Drill: Slide Back, Front Leg Reverse Hooking Kick & Jumping Punches


- Semi Free Sparring (Reaction Sparring with only kicking)

Self-Defense

- Front Break Fall (from a Standing Position)
