Congratulations on achieving your Yellow Stripe!


It is important to be strong and always try your best.  As a Yellow Stripe you have an even harder journey because you will need to learn new techniques while improving the ones you learned as a White Belt.

Training Requirements

In order to test from Yellow Stripe to Yellow Belt, you will need to accomplish the following:


Children (6 to 11 Years Old)-

03- Months of training

30- Attended Classes


Teens & Adults (ages 12 & up)-

02- Months of training

30- Attended Classes

No additional requirements at this level

Test Composition

The Written Test

The written test is the first stage of testing.  It comprises of questions from your Taekwon-Do knowledge.  It is important to study your booklets / hand-outs as well as attend classes.

The Physical Test

Upon completion of your written test, each student must undergo a physical test.  Each Physical Test is comprised of Running, Jump Rope, Push-ups, Sit-ups, squats and speed kicks.

The Technical Test

After completing the Written Test and the Physical Test, students move on to go through the technical test.  This section is comprised of Fundamentals, Kicking Drills, Patterns, Sparring, Self-Defense and Breaking.

Cardio & Coordination

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


04 minutes of jogging

04 minutes of jump rope

Strength & Conditioning

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


15 proper Push-ups

15 proper Sit-ups

15 deep knee bends

To complete this portion of the Physical Test, each student must complete the following:


10 Speed Front Snap Kicks (each leg)

10 Speed Turning Kicks (each leg)

- Sitting Stance Middle Punch

- L-Stance Middle Obverse Punch

- L-Stance Middle Inner Forearm Block

- L-Stance Middle Forearm Guarding Block

- Downward Kick

- Turning Kick

- Side Piercing Kick

Patterns

- Chon-Ji Tul / Pattern Chon-Ji (19-movements)

Sparring

- 3 Step Sparring #3

- 3 Step Sparring #4

- Sparring Foot work Drill #2 - Double Stepping (Forward & Backward)

- Sparring Combination (Double Jab, Cross & Turning Kick)

- Sparring Combination (Double Jab, Cross & Downward Kick)

- Defensive Drill: Front Leg Side Kick & Jumping Punches


Please note that when you test, you will also be asked to perform techniques from White Belt.

Self-Defense

- Front Break Fall (from a squatting position)

- Back Break Fall (from a squatting position)

- Left & Right Side Break Falls (from a squatting position)


- Front Choke Release

- Attempted Front Choke Defense

Breaking

There are NO breaking requirements for Yellow Stripes.
